The fourfold soul

- Four spiritual elements make up the human soul in Odinani: Chi, Eke, Mmuo, Onyeuwa — governing destiny, predestination, life-force, and the reincarnating personality respectively. (T2 framework; T1 speaks instead of body/ogodo, soul, spirit, Chi, and Agu Mu — treat the four-element scheme as a modern systematization.)

- [T2] Otu mmadu otu mmuo — "one is at once human and spirit"; mmuo as life-force associated with ancestors.

- [T1] Agu Mu — one's spiritual double. In numerology, 8×1=8 marks "Mu returning to Agu Mu"; invoking/materializing the Agu Mu enables ibi abuo/ibi iboo (bilocation). [pp.40–42]

- [T1] Mmadu (the human) = Oku na mmili — energy/fire and water. On entering each plane one takes on the ogodo/ahu/aru (cloth = body) proper to that plane; at death the body is shed as ozu (corpse), dramatized by the uno ogodo (house of cloths) at funerals. "Mmadu" in the deep sense = the spiritually enlightened human — nzu ogu combining fire and water. [pp.4, 37, 133]
