Truth & nature

- Ezi okwu bu ndu; okwu asi bu onwuTruth is life; falsehood is death. Universality of truth: Mba na-asu n'onu n'onu, ma egbuchaa ikili o bul ofu — peoples speak in different tongues, but once the throat is cleared the meaning is one.

- Nature as source and model: nature is the supreme adept — the best scientist, architect, doctor, musician; the traditional man's guiding principle. Onwero ife bu uwa ife ofuu — nothing is new in the world; Uwa na-ehughali — the world is in constant change: what is, has been; what was, will be.

- Cleanliness doctrine: hands must stay spiritually clean for the final appeal (open palms to Enu); physical hygiene mirrored it — twice-daily baths, twice-daily sweeping, chewing-stick of abosi — which impressed early European observers. [pp.50–51, 134]
